Аннотация: Avocado (Persea Americana) is a fruit that contains a high value of oil and chlorophyll concentration. There had been many studies regarding the extraction and optimization of the avocado pulp oil yield. Solvent extraction is one of the methods used for extracting avocado oil. The present study examined soxhlet extraction of avocado oil using 4 different solvents: n-hexane, chloroform, petroleum naphtha, and ethanol; and 4 blends of two solvents each: n-hexane/chloroform, chloroform/ethanol, petroleum naphtha/ethanol, and n-hexane/petroleum naphtha; specifically 250ml for each single solvent run, and 125ml of each solvent for a blend of two solvents. The extracted oil was then separated using a rotary evaporator. Oil yield was computed and then analysed for its oleic acid (fatty acid) content using gas chromatography.
